Cartier's Love Bracelet

Cartier's "Love Bracelet" was first seen in the summer of 1969. It was created by designer Aldo Cipullo, whose early work for Cartier focused on modern interpretations of ancient designs and legends.

Cipullo's creation of the Love Bracelet was inspired by the Chastity Belt, a device husbands are said to have locked around their wives' waists to ensure fidelity while they are away.Cartier's Love BraceletCipullo carefully crafted a two piece bracelet that bolts together around the wrist. It came with a tiny screwdriver which made it convenient to put it on and take it off. It symbolized a "locked up," a commitment in the relationship.

Cartier loved the bracelet and implemented a policy: customers could not buy a Love Bracelet for themselves. The company presented his-and-hers bracelets to 25 famous couples: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon, Ali McGraw and Steve McQueen, Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor etc. They all participated in the fun, and loved the cute idea!

In 1979, Cartier introduced a diamond studded version and then followed by a ring, cufflinks and earrings. It was popular among celebrities and wealthy people.

Cartier told a story of a woman who showed up at a long ago reception wearing nine Love Bracelets. This was her explanation:

"Listen, honey. I've had a few lovers in my time, and I made each one of them give me a 'Love Bracelet'. For me, these nine bracelets are like the notches on a gunfighter's pistol!"

February 2008, Cartier added a new piece of bracelet to its LOVE Collection, The LOVE CHARITY Bracelet. It's fashioned with a knotted silk band that displays a miniature, pink gold version Love Bracelet at its front. The bracelet comes in different colors because each color represents a form of charity. Hollywood celebrities are working with Cartier, using the bracelets to raise awareness and promote a specific charity.

The History of Bracelet

Since ancient time, evidences have shown that both Egyptian males and females wore bracelets. Dragonflies, bees and other symbolic creatures were often engraved on jewelries. During the Roman era, bracelets were common as well. They often carried symbols of snakes, lion heads, and the Heracles knot. Greek bracelets had engraving of palmettos, acanthus leaves and animals with gem stones in their eyes. Beautiful stones were used in these ancient jewelry pieces and only prestigious people can afford to wear them.

Just like in the ancient times, women today are still in fond of jewelries. However, what's different today is that now there is a huge selection of jewelries available for everyone. For example, the tennis bracelet is a special piece of woman's jewelry. The tennis bracelet is traditionally a bracelet that features a line of symmetrically patterned diamonds. Tennis bracelets can be made with various types of metals and they can also be created with glass or synthetic man made stones. Tennis bracelet in a way shows love and honor.

Not hard to guess, the name "tennis bracelet", originated on the tennis court. Chris Evert, who was the World's Number One Women's Tennis Player by then, was playing in the U.S Open Tournament. During the middle of the game, her beautiful diamond bracelet shattered and spread across court. The match had to pause while she tries to retrieve her diamonds. Rumor has it that from that day on this style of bracelet was named as tennis bracelet. Many female tennis players continue to wear beautiful bracelets during matches, and these bracelets always grab everyone's attention. For example, Serena Williams, in 2002, wore a gorgeous 29,000 dollar tennis bracelet to the U.S Open. An extra secure clasp was designed on this bracelet to insure its safety. This platinum tennis bracelet contained 224 diamonds and amount to 12 carats.

Women's jewelry has always created a stir. The beauty of the art work together with the stunning stones brings joy to the wearer. Girls like the way how jewelries sparkles while woman like the jewelries' elegance. Women's bracelets date back to Roman and Egyptian times but they are just as popular today.

The Story of Gold Jewelry

From the past, we have learned that rich families usually possess a considerable quantity of gold rings, bracelets, and coins; it is a symbol for family wealth and social status. If you happen to fit in this category, you must have a personal treasure passed down the line from your ancestors, and increased by the gifts of husband, children and business associates.

Middle class families also inherit pieces of jewelry from their mothers or grandmothers. Women usually take care of those generation-passed-down jewelries very seriously because they often are precious and have significant meaning. Those rings and bracelet are meant to be kept from generation to generation.

Gold Marriage really existed. Before the 21 century it used to be very common for married couples to stay together all their lives. Divorce was rare and considered a mishap. People had pride in committing to each other for life. To celebrate this union, people would even publicly remarry when they reach the 50th anniversary. The attendants to the gold wedding shower ceremony would bring gold gifts to the couples. The couple would also exchange their gift for each other, such as new wedding rings or a gold bracelet, necklace or chain, sometimes engraving the date of the event or their spouse's endearing name in it. This was not only a token of respect and appreciation for 50 years of love and friendship, but also an investment to be passed on to their descendants. Sadly, nowadays 50th wedding anniversary doesn't exist as much now.

In any case, gold jewelries are great! Why not buy yourself a present? With modern design and precise crafting skill, gold jewelries nowadays are very stylish and fashionable. Gold bracelet can be a smart pick and you deserve that piece of fine jewel!

Are You Buying Cubic Zirconia Rings for Your Valentine

Have you spent hours online researching what you should get your girlfriend for Valentine's Day, or spent endless days looking for that perfect gift at the mall? I'll tell you what, I've spent numerous hours at the mall just wandering around trying to find a gift my girlfriend would enjoy for hallmark holidays like Valentine's Day. I don't like going to the mall as it is, and to have to spend all day looking for something I have no clue about is almost like being tortured. Luckily, I've had the best idea ever – literally. My girlfriend likes jewelry, but jewelry can be expensive sometimes, so why not get her some cubic zirconia rings? After comparing prices, I've noticed CZ rings are only a small fraction of the cost of a diamond ring!
Gold Plated CZ Eternity Band
Let's compare the prices of the two rings; a diamond ring can range from upper $500 to over $2,000 – cubic zirconia rings are on average between $50 and $120. That can be a saving of up a few thousand dollars! With the money I save from buying my girlfriend CZ jewelry I can buy a LCD TV that I really need. Aside from the obvious difference in price, cubic zirconia rings look pretty similar to their diamond ring counterparts. I actually have a hard time telling the difference between the two rings.

If you put both rings side to side, which I've actually done, odds are, you will find very little difference between the two rings. Cubic Zirconia rings also tend to be a bit heavier than diamond rings, so the weight actually throws you off a bit. As far as the look itself, assuming the two stones are cut the same, the odds that you can differentiate between the two are very low.

When you realize Valentine's Day (or any other hallmark holiday) is rapidly approaching, I highly consider buying your girlfriend or wife a few CZ rings. Not only are they incredibly cheap, but they are just as beautiful as diamond rings. With an assortment of colors available for you to choose from, I don't see why you would pass up on cubic zirconia rings as a gift this year's V-Day.
